"Papa Tom" Rawls and wife Dollie.
"Red"
and Waynelle Strachan bought the ranch in 1980 and enjoyed getting to
know Jack Rawls, Jr. (grandson of "Papa Tom") and Jack's
wife, Joy. Old Alazan is
still a working cattle ranch, but also offers a unique opportunity for
folks to escape the city and experience a real ranch visit. Join us for some "real" Texas hospitality at a leisurely pace! Deep in the Texas Big Bend, Old Alazan is a family-owned working cattle ranch, but we always welcome small retreats, corporate meetings, or seminars. At Old Alazan, we encourage you to leave your wristwatch behind, because here we measure time by the length of the shadows.

"Papa
Tom" was somewhat of a "character" and well known for
his confrontations with Pancho Villa.
